          If you have a concern about a student service located on the St. George Campus, your first step is to talk to the Director of the service.

          If your concern has not been resolved after taking this step, your second step should be to contact the Executive/Senior Director of the service.

Career advising appointments

Go to the Career Exploration & Education homepage

Book a one-on-one career advising appointment with a career educator or peer advisor if you are exploring your options, looking for work or considering graduate school. We can help you put a strategy in place!

  • Pre-booked appointments (30 min) are available to book up to one week in advance.
  • Just-in-time (30 min) appointments are available to book by 10:30 a.m. on the day before the appointment is held.

All undergraduate and graduate students and recent graduates within two years can book appointments.

Contact Career Exploration & Education through the online chat and log in to the Career and Co-Curricular Learning Network (CLNx) to book your appointment with the St. George Career Exploration & Education team.

To facilitate access for all U of T students and recent alumni, an individual will be not be able to book more than one appointment at a time, nor more than two appointments (across all appointment types) per week.

Meet with a peer career advisor who will help you clarify your career question(s) and highlight specific programs, services, and resources that meet your unique need(s) and career goals! Think of the peer career advisors as your personal concierge to Career Exploration & Education.

A peer career advisor will review your resume and provide feedback about tailoring, formatting, highlighting your accomplishments, and other tips to strengthen your resume. If you are applying to graduate-level research or senior-level positions, please book an Application Review appointment.

Meet with a career educator to review your job or further education application documents (e.g. personal statement, CV or résumé for further education application). To make the most of your time, bring a draft copy of your application and information about the opportunity.

Join us for in person drop-in advising appointments by a peer career advisor. The drop-in style will help you get convenient, flexible, and individualized one on one support to improve your resume or cover letter, prepare for an interview, optimize your LinkedIn profile, and clarify your career question(s) and career goals.

Peer Career Advisors will be offering the following appointments:

  • Resume & Cover Letter Review
  • Career Start – Resource Referral
  • LinkedIn Review
  • Interview Prep

These limited in-person drop-in appointments will be offered every Thursday from July 4 – August 8, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Career Exploration & Education (800 Bay Street, 5th floor Toronto, ON M5S 3A9).

These 20-minute appointments will be offered on a first come, first served basis. You can come in-person to the front reception desk to book one of these same day appointments during our business hours of 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The first appointment is available at 11 a.m. and the last appointment will be offered at 3:30 p.m. If you are applying to graduate-level research or senior-level positions, please book an Application Review appointment.

Please bring a printed copy of your resume or cover letter or have it available on a device (laptop or tablet) for easy viewing and editing.

A peer career advisor will review your LinkedIn profile and provide feedback about each of the main sections (Headline, About, Experience and Education), as well as how to highlight your accomplishments and tailor your profile.

A peer career advisor will help you identify the core competencies of the role, and learn about common question types and how to craft the best answer. Note that mock interview practice is not offered through these appointments. For practice interviews, please book an Interview Practice appointment. You’re encouraged to bring a job posting to the appointment to help identify the relevant competencies .

Have an upcoming interview? Connect with a career educator to practice strategies to respond to different interview types and questions. Delivered in partnership with First Nations House/Indigenous Student Services 

Are you an Indigenous student (First Nations, Inuit or Metis)? Connect with an Indigenous career educator to:

  • Learn about career programs, services and resources.
  • Review your job or further education application documents (e.g. personal statement, CV or résumé for further education application).
  • Practice strategies to respond to different interview types and questions.
  • Develop a strategy for making decisions about your career and navigating your options.
  • Develop a strategy for applying to further education, and explore how to make a decision.
  • Discuss and develop your job search plan.

Each week, a limited number of appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. These appointments become available by 10:30 a.m. on the day before the appointments are held (or on Friday for Monday appointments).

Appointment availability

Appointments are usually available every day of the week via Microsoft Teams. The Career and Co-Curricular Learning Network (CLNx) displays appointments up to one week in advance.
